Client Goals

The homeowner had three goals for this remodel: update the worn-out tub and wall surround, add more usable counter space, and bring in a design that felt brighter and more modern without overwhelming the small footprint. She also wanted a contractor who could both supply key structural materials and professionally install the specialty items she had already purchased.

Key goals included:

  • More counter space without crowding the toilet or vanity
  • A cleaner, more modern look with quality finishes
  • Proper installation of customer-supplied fixtures and accessories

Our Process

We started by removing the entire existing tub and shower unit, along with the vanity, toilet, and all previous fixtures. With the room cleared, we could rebuild the space with a layout that used every inch wisely.

Once the structure was opened up, we prepared the new tub and shower area for tile and added a full-width recessed niche along the back wall. The Lunada Bay glass mosaic chosen by the homeowner was used to highlight this niche, creating a focal point that brings both texture and color into the room.

Key installation steps included:

• • Installing a new Americast bathtub and drain assembly
  • Waterproofing and preparing shower walls for tile
  • Tiling the shower with a mosaic accent and bullnose trim
  • Installing LVT flooring over the existing vinyl
  • Painting the walls and ceiling for a fresh, neutral look
  • Setting the new vanity, mirror, faucet, and lighting
  • Installing all fixtures, including Moen shower controls and accessories

To solve the issue of limited storage and counter space, we fabricated a custom banjo-shaped Cambria quartz countertop. This allowed the counter to extend over the toilet without needing structural cabinetry beneath it. Steel brackets hidden underneath support the extended surface and prevent flexing or damage over time. The result is a clean, functional design that maximizes space without feeling crowded.
