Mechanicsburg Walk-In Shower and Bathroom Remodel

Spacious and Accessible Bathroom Upgrade

Luxury Walk-In Shower & Full Bathroom Remodel in Mechanicsburg, PA

This Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania bathroom remodel was designed for comfort, accessibility, and a clean, modern look. The homeowners never used their soaking tub, the existing shower was cramped and leaking, and they wanted a safer, more functional layout they could enjoy for years to come. Their vision was a spacious 44” x 12’ walk-in shower with no curb, multiple seating areas, tile wainscoting around the entire room, and upgraded cabinetry with Cambria Trafalgar quartz.

The finished project gave them all of that and more, a bright, highly functional space with a beautiful accessible shower, premium finishes, and storage designed around everyday convenience.

Client Goals

The homeowners wanted to eliminate the unused tub and leaking shower and replace everything with a layout built for safety, comfort, and long-term ease of use. The room needed to feel cohesive and polished without looking like a hospital environment.

Key goals included:

    • A single oversized zero-threshold walk-in shower
    • A full bench at the shower end and a second seat at the drying area
    • New cabinetry and a seated vanity area with upper storage
    • Cambria Trafalgar quartz countertops
    • Stylish grab bars mounted into blocking (hidden accessibility)
    • Tile wainscoting around the entire bathroom

Our Process

We began by opening the space and removing the components that no longer served the homeowners’ needs. This allowed us to rebuild the bathroom with a layout that offered better flow, more usable space, and improved accessibility.

Work completed during demolition and reconstruction included:

    • Removing the tub, shower, vanity, window, flooring, trims, and old lighting
    • Patching the exterior wall and siding after window removal
    • Eliminating the divider wall and raising the shower ceiling to match the room
    • Capping old plumbing lines and reworking supply and drain lines for the new layout
    • Recessing the subfloor for the Laticrete 42” linear drain to create a true zero-curb shower
    • Framing two seating areas: a full shower bench and a corner drying bench
    • Installing blocking for grab bars, seating, and accessories
    • Waterproofing the entire shower assembly before tile installation

Once the structure was in place, we moved into the finishing phase, which brought the entire design together. Tile wainscoting and coordinated materials unified the room, while upgraded cabinets, lighting, and ventilation improved both comfort and daily usability.
